Christmas Party

Chris and I got a night out this past weekend to go to a Christmas party at the church building. It was LOTS of fun.

We had a Christmas Picnic with fried chicken, potato salad, beans, pasta salad, and lots of yummy deserts.

I was on the team to help get things together. Aren't the paper plate watermelon Santa picnic Christmas decorations that Shana found cute!!!!?

It was so much fun.

Exciting Things Happen Part 2

Hannah sat on Santa's lap.

TWICE.(Look at her eyes - she is smiling!)

They were a bit of some extenuating circumstances.
  • At Publix, we were all alone and there was no one else there.
  • At school, she was able to have a front seat look at everyone else going up there and she knew most of them.
  • At Publix, Daddy was able to slowly and patiently take her up to Santa.
  • At school, she was able to sit on Santa's lap with Reese.
  • At Publix, she got a lollipop.
  • At school, Mrs Laura was handing out gift bags.
  • At Publix and at school, they were really great Santas with real beards and nice gentle personalities.
  • At Publix and at school, we had to tell her it was just someone dressed up for fun.
She loved both and it is so exciting to have good Santa experiences.

Exciting Things Happen Part 1

Remember the last program that Hannah had?
Remember how I told you she started crying after the first 3 words in the first song and never got back on stage?

Well, She did the WHOLE thing on Tuesday night with her Christmas program. It was great!

Since I work at the day school I have a couple of advantages. First, I get to see practice. Second, I get to sit really really close!

Here she is at practice waiting for her class' turn on stage. She was very excited!

Once they were on stage I was a little nervous since she was right smack in the middle but she loved it and did great!
After watching the videos (yes, that is plural!) you may understand but after practice they decided that those reindeer antlers were a little too top heavy and they quickly made some paper antlers for them to wear at the actual program.

Here is Hannah Tuesday Night with her whole outfit on (didn't they make cute sweatshirts to wear!) waiting for her class' turn to get on stage and sing their songs. She was excited. Each class sang 2 songs and then all classes got up together at the end and sang 1 song together. Because of some technical difficulties and my absent-mindedness I don't have the video available to put on here from the actual program for all 3 songs but you will get the gist of it.

This is the first song they sang (Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer) from the actual program at night. I love how she is so serious and a little apprehensive until she spots her Daddy and then she decides she can get in to it.

This is the second song they sang (3 Brown and Tan Reindeer) from practice. She was loving it. My favorite it when she does the hand motions for cold and shakes her whole body. It cracks me up.

This is the last song they sang (We Wish You a Merry Christmas) with the whole group from practice. Added bonus here is that she was behind Reese so I got a video of both of them! Everyone was so cute. The first group were elves, the second group were Christmas trees, the third group (my class) were snowmen, the fourth group (Hannah's class) were reindeer, and the last group were bells. It was so sweet.

We decided to make it a "Hannah Night" and let "Aunt" Stephanie play with Justus at home while we went to her program. Afterwards we went to McDonalds and got her an ice cream cone. She thought she was big stuff. It was so cute. We are very proud.

He is Growing Up.

So, he is about 15 months old now.

I know he is growing up.

I get it.

But there was something about Justus in his jeans and jacket the other day that just made me get a little lump in my throat. He looked so big. I can hardly believe it.

((Of course, he was not that happy with me trying to get him to be still so that I could get his picture. he he!))

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?

Our New House

We invited some friends over for supper and how special do you think Hannah felt when they pulled their pick-up truck in our back yard, all the boys got on either side of it, they got it off the back of the truck and said "Hannah, where do you want it?"

A hand-me-down house to play in outside! WOW!Thank You "R" family. We love you!
It was so nice of you to think of us!

In case you were wondering - Hannah and Justus love it - AND so do all the kids that come over to play! It is wonderful!

Lights!!!

A few weeks ago we were all upstairs playing and Hannah reminded Daddy of his promise to let her help him put lights on the bushes outside the house.

It was COLD. So, Justus and I stayed in and Hannah and Daddy went to put lights on the bushes outside. On their way out I asked Chris to remember to take some pictures.

These two pictures are what I got! Aren't they the cutest?!

When I asked Chris how they looked he said that he let her put them on and they were not really straight but she stepped back and gasped and said "Daddy, they are so beautiful!" Chris said he would not have moved ("corrected") them for the world after that!

Next time you go by a house and think how lopsided or uneven the lights look, think about who may have put them up! They are Beautiful just the way they are!
