The View

From our hotel room.
From the bridge we had to cross outside our hotel room.
From Navy Pier's Ferris Wheel.
(Did anyone know I am not that big a fan of Ferris Wheels?)

From the 96th floor of the John Hancock building.

(Check out the picture below. All the way to the left is the Ferris Wheel I mentioned before!)

((Seriously, the Chicago pictures will end soon - -
give me a couple more days - - please!))

Did You Know?

... in Chicago Public is spelled with a "v"?... Chicago has a big beautiful bean that you can walk up to and see the reflection of the city in?
... Chicago has the biggest yoga class ever going on at their amphitheater?
... I love whatever this is and it was everywhere in Chicago?
Do you know what kind of plant it is? Some kind of poinsettia?
... I was so so happy to go up north and be able to be around palm trees? This is in Chicago's crystal garden! I wonder if I could have one of these in the back yard?
... The public transportation train is above the road instead of under it? Very Loud!
I am sure all you very well traveled folks already knew all this. However, Chris and I - we did not!

Artsy

Last week I realized that I am SO not artsy enough to watch So You Think You Can Dance. Really. I am sorry but all the "dances" that everyone seemed to like so much I just crinkled my nose at and said "HUH? What?". Really.

However, this weekend I did realize that I am just artsy enough to appreciate some beautiful buildings in Chicago!

Chris and I went on a little get away this weekend - ALONE - to Chicago just to see the city and spend some fun time together.

More Posts On This To Come!

New Book

Under the Radar was great! I really like the Sisterhood series. They are always a fun read and this one had a small spin on it which was great.

Next up, FINALLY, the third book in the Mark of the Lion series. I have learned so much from the other two books I am really excited about reading this one. This one is As Sure AS The Dawn and, or course, it is by Francine Rivers.

I am really excited about reading this one!

I will let you know how it goes.

July 4th in NC

AND Finally, the best for last, Hannah loved the closet doors at the beach with nothing but mirrors on it. The mirrors helped her "make different Hannahs."

Check it out.

July 4th in NC

Next up, on Chris' birthday we got to play golf with some great friends while Maw Maw and Poppa Bob took care of the kids! We played golf at....
Brandywine Bay Golf Club!
(Thank you Andrew for your artistic eye here, despite the trouble that the subject gave you.)

I keep saying that "we" played golf but what I mean is that these 4 played golf...

... and I drove the cart for these two crazy guys!
It was LOTS of fun. Even if we did have to hurry along because we were holding people up being too slow and we wanted to make it to supper on time. It had been way too long since I have had a chance to watch Chris play golf. I love love watching Chris play golf.

Symbiosis

For those of you who know me well - no I did not know this word on my own so you can go on and take yourself out of Shock-Mode! I found this word from Confessions of a Pioneer Woman. When I read about that word there, I looked into it a little more.

SYMBIOSIS:
The relation between 2 different organisms that are interdependent; each gains benefits from each other.

SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP:
A relationship that is a positive sum gain from cooperation. Used to explain the relationship between 2 entities that need each other to survive and prosper.

This is the nature of the relationship between Chris and I.
Happy Anniversary!
I love you with all my heart, Chris.
I hope to celebrate 555 more of these with you! :-)

July 4th in NC

Next, we went to Chris' family's beach house and on Tuesday we headed out to beautiful sand and ocean.

I think the kids were OK with the sand. Hannah was NOT happy, however, with how loud and rough the ocean was. It scared her a lot. She cried and cried when Chris went out to swim in it.

Poppa Bob caught a fish for Hannah and she was not too sure about that but thought it was great and kept talking about it. She talks a big game about being brave! It is cute.

Justus just got overwhelmed and conked out on Maw Maw. An hour on the beach for a 9 month old is very tiring!

July 4th in NC

We made our traditional week long trip to NC to see family the week after the 4th of July. It was lots and lots of fun.

First up, the actual 4th of July at Nannah and Papa Joe's house. Great food and fun with my dad's family, great splash time in the pool, and lots of fun with a wonderful new water squirter (is that a word?)!!

Zucchini

My parents have an abundance of Zucchini in their garden. Mom and I were trying to think of something other than Zucchini Nut Bread or Stir Fry type recipes that we could use it for. SO, when we were at their house the week after 4th of July mom helped everyone out.

She found 4 recipes for Zucchini all used in different ways. The last Saturday night we were there, supper was a meat, corn, and 4 Zucchini dishes. That is right, we made them all in one afternoon for one meal and made all the grown ups try every one of them and tell us what they thought.

Hopefully Mom, Dad, and Chris will comment with their thoughts since I can not remember exactly what everyone rated them but here are mine.

Stuffed Zucchini - I rated it a 2 out of 10 because of the strong tomato taste and it was a little dry. This may not have been the recipe's fault, though. It may have been the cook's. We may try it again.

Zucchini Macaroni Casserole - I rated this a 7 out of 10 I think. It was yummy and Hannah liked it. It made you feel like you were eating healthy mac and cheese! I did put a little too much cheese in it, so that might have been why I liked it so much! :-)

Baked Zucchini - I rated this a 5 out of 10 that night. However, I have tried this one again and I believe I would now rate it a 9 out of 10. That night we did not get it all the way cooked, I know now, and I think it was a little too much on the oregano.

Baked Zucchini Squares - I rated this a 9 out of 10. This was SO SO good. We had decided this one was the one we would skip if time did not allow us to make them all. I thought it looked the most unappetizing. I was so so wrong. I think we all thought this was the best. It is AWESOME!

Let me tell you - that was a fun supper! I hope you can use some of these wonderful recipes, if you are looking for something a little different for all the zucchini you are growing!

Children's Bible Hour

At the congregation where we worship we have Children's Bible Hour on Sunday nights for children ages 3 to 7. It is like another bible class for them.

Last night they were talking about what they were thankful for. You know those sweet little things where the teacher asks the children what they are thankful for and then the teacher writes it down on something cute for the parents to see. Well that is what they did.

Can you see what Hannah is thankful for?

If not click it. Make it big. See for yourself.

The paper says she is thankful for Justus, the bonus room, the play room, and family. I thought that was pretty funny. But sweet.

Well, when I was asking her about it on the way home she said she was thankful for Justus all on her own and she could not remember the others. I asked her if she was thankful for the bonus room. She said yes. I asked her if she was thankful for the play room. She said yes. I asked her if she was thankful for family.

She said no, I am thankful for Hannah!

Was the teacher trying to be nice to us parents by putting family or do you really think in class Hannah said family?

Hummmmm.

Menu Plan Monday

This is a strange week but once again we are trying to spend very little.
However, you will see something a little different at the end of the week. Not conserving money so much - - - Well, that has been paid for for months so, really we aren't spending much. Really!

:-)

Monday - Tuna Noodle Casserole, Green Beans
Tuesday - Spaghetti, Garlic Bread
Wednesday - Hormel Style Beef Roast, Baked Zucchini Squares
Thursday - Sandwiches, Chips
Friday - Date Night - Gino's East
Saturday - Date Night - Rosebud Steakhouse and dessert at Signature Room
Sunday - Leftovers

SO, not only have I been on Blog Withdrawal since I have not had a lot of time this week to blog but we also had a pretty good Sunday-Picture-Day and I could not choose .....

SO, here are WAY too many Sunday Pictures:
