Hannah in Action

I have been wanting to try to get some action shots at soccer but have not been very successful. I finally decided to go out while she was practicing before the game and get some. She is such a cutie!!!

Justus and Layne

Justus really does already love Layne.
And I think she likes him OK too.

(he just needs to stop stealing her snacks! he he!)

Really? Boxes?

I look up in Justus' room and this is what I find. I am really beginning to think that I am just going to start getting my children boxes instead of toys.

:-)

Soccer Picture Day

On team picture day, when there were a few of the teammates ready for the picture and the others were still getting there, I had to take some "cutie" pictures.

They are all so cute in their soccer uniform.

Of course we had to get a special picture of just Hannah and Reese.

Our Sunday Pictures

Hannah wanted to show off for her Aunt Wendy and Mollie.
Justus was not really havin' Sunday Pictures today.
(I have lots of him crying that I may share later.)
These are the best that I got.
Love It. :-)

Get Your Shoes On

Justus and Hannah wanted to go outside. I was cleaning up the kitchen and I told them they needed to get their shoes on. Hannah got her shoes on and then she told Justus she would help him get his shoes on.

Instead of getting my things done quickly or leave them all together to go do it so that Hannah would not mess him up, I got my camera. It was really sweet. She really tried and he did too....

In the end, I still had to put the shoes on, but I still thought it was so sweet.

Crystal Bowersox

Not sure if you watch American Idol or not. We do. Crystal has been my favorite girl for a while but this past Tuesday night's performance was just awesome.

Here are the lyrics to the song she sang. The theme for the night was "inspirational songs."

PEOPLE GET READY

People get ready, there's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord

People get ready for the train to Jordan
It's picking up passengers from coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board 'em
There's hope for all among those loved the most.

There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there's no hiding place against the Kingdom's throne

So people get ready, there's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord

At the end of the performance this is our conversation:

Chris: What? Is she crying? Uggg. Why?
Me: (with tears in my eyes) Did you hear it? Did you listen to the words?
Chris: You're crying?
Me: It is a good song!
Chris: Well, yeah, it was really good.

For some reason that just made me laugh.

Here it is...

Books

Catching Genius was great. I have actually been finished with it for a while now. I will admit it was better than I had thought it would be. I am excited to explore and see if Kristy Kiernan has any other books out there.

For some reason I have not been in to reading books lately. I am tired and just want to sleep in my spare time (my pillow is actually calling my name right now!)

Anyway, I have a slew of THINK magazines that I have only read an article or two in and I have been wanting to read the entire thing .... SO, I am sticking with my book club book and THINK magazine right now.

I will let you know how Crazy Love goes. It is pretty good so far.

Interesting Information

So, my children have a lot of earwax. (Just like their mom did as a kid.) It is just one of those things.

Yesterday Justus had to get his ears checked (of course, he had an ear infection) and the doctor said she had to look around all his earwax to see his ear infection. She told me to go to the pharmacy and get something called Colace.

I go into the pharmacy. Ask where the Colace is. Someone takes me to it and .... YES .... it is a Stool Softener.

I say something to my friend in the pharmacy area and she says she has never heard of it used that way before but it makes sense. The Pharmacist is close by shaking his head yes. He said it would liquefy it (just like my doc said) and he even said that it was great for getting stains out of your clothes. Just liquefies it and the stain comes out, just like earwax, and .... like other things that it was made for! :-)

So, I plan to put a hole in a stool softener gel cap and squirt it in my son's ear for 7 days in a row. Never could have imagined that I would ever write a sentence like that. Crazy!

Easter Party

Hannah had an Easter party and Easter egg hunt at her school in March. (I am still catching up on those weeks I lost with a sick computer).

Unfortunately, because of some crazy circumstances, neither Chris nor I were able to go and hang out with her for this one. (We have been able to be a part of all of the others!) Anyway, Hannah has the greatest teachers ever, and they are also some of my great friends, and so I gave them my camera and asked if they could take a couple of pictures if they got a chance.

Didn't they turn out great?

She had a great time and was a super big trooper not having Mommy or Daddy there.

Lauren Is Here

We were so excited that Lauren was passing thru here this week and could hang out with us for about .... well .... almost 24 hours.

Hannah was so glad she came. We had a fun visit together.

Call us, Lauren, EVERY time you are passing thru. We can be your "on the road" host family. :-)

FireFighter Day

March is the month of Community Helpers at the Day School that the kids go to (and I teach at). Because of a lot of crazy circumstances of the day we ended up seeing the fireman outside.

It was a hot and sunny day but it was lots of fun.

Hannah's teacher won the race to see which teacher could get the fireman's gear on first. She Loved That!

She is real "weird" about anyone who is "dressing up." The fireman talked about how if they ever see a fireman in all their gear to remember they are just a man or woman (a daddy or mommy) underneath and never to hide from them. After thinking about that I really am worried that Hannah would hide from them if she ever saw them. We have talked a lot about it...

All in All is was a really fun great day!

Crazy Love

A couple of quotes from Crazy Love by Francis Chan:
  • I have realized that when we love God, we naturally run to Him - frequently and zealously. Jesus didn't command that we have regular time with Him each day. Rather, He tells us to "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." He called this the "first and greatest commandment." (Matt 22:37-38) The results are intimate prayer and study of His Word. Our motivation is then love.
  • ...my desire for my children is only a faint echo of God's great love for me and for every person He made. I am just an earthly, sinful father, and I love my kids so much it hurts, How could I not trust a heavenly, perfect Father who loves me infinitely more than I will ever love my kids?
  • The best things in life are gifts from the One who steadfastly loves us. But an important question to ask ourselves is this: Are we in love with God or His stuff?

Another Program

Hannah had her last program at school for the year, in March. She was really excited because my parents and my grandparents were able to be there to see her. She had a great time. Stayed up there and sang her songs well! We were so proud.

She had lots of fun. I have figured out how to blog again but getting videos to download is a whole other thing. If I can get them downloaded, I will put them on here!

Teach Me Lord to Wait

Words and Music by Stuart Hamblen

Teach me Lord, to wait
Right down on my knees,
Till in Your own good time
You answer my pleas;
Teach me not to rely
On what others do,
But to wait in prayer
For an answer from You.

Teach me Lord, to wait
While hearts are aflame,
Let me humble my pride
And call on Your name.
Keep my faith renewed,
my eyes on Thee,
Let me be on this earth
What you want me to be.

They that wait upon the Lord
Shall renew their strength,
They shall mount up with wings like eagles.
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
Teach me Lord,
Teach me Lord,
To wait.

Sunday, when we sang this song during worship, I wrote it down to remind me that I wanted to blog it since it touched me so much. What a prayer!

Then I realized that I would not need to upload a picture so, if it was a good day, my computer may let me go on and blog it. AND then I realized that the words were also somewhat appropriate for my blog right now. :-)

2 more weeks and I should have a great computer to blog with and then, my friends, you will be on CMD Family Blog Overload. Promise!
