The Birthday Party

We did something small this year. Only a couple of friends and family. I think we are going to start doing an every other year on friends thing. Hannah had a big friends party last year and Justus only had family. So, I think this year was smaller for Hannah and so Justus will get to have a friends party this year.

Maybe.

I don't know.

I think at this point all Justus' friends are Hannah's friends. Is that sad?

Anyway, it was lots of fun. The cake was AMAZING!! If you need a number for a great cake person PLEASE, ask me. I know a couple of someones!!! Hannah asked Mrs Elizabeth for a striped cake with Dora on top. How perfect did she do?

The girls who did come were sweet and had lot of fun dressing up, playing, and throwing water balloons at Mr Chris!

Thank you to everyone for the gifts. What a spoiled, cute little 4 year old!

Hannah's Day

This is probably the first year we decided to do something ON her birthday. It wasn't much but it made her realize how special she is.
Chris went in to work late Wednesday morning so that he could take Hannah out to a special birthday-Daddy-Hannah-breakfast.She thought it was great - She came home with a Chick-Fil-A cow. (and breakfast for mommy as an added bonus to me!)When we asked her what she wanted for her birthday she said "a cross necklace like mommy's" and of course the first reaction was that there was no way we were going to pay for any jewelry for a 4 year old. Well, I was looking thru some old things and found my old cross necklace. We found a place that would clean it for free and WahLah she got what she wanted! Chris gave it to her at breakfast and she was so excited. Then we went to the library and Reese got to meet up with us there. Big Wonderful! Then we went to Mr and Mrs Pritchett's house to eat lunch and play. Hannah came home with a tummy full of cupcakes with sprinkles and a beautiful hand-made dress!!!At the church building some others spoiled her rotten with some sweet gifts to show they love her and lots of happy birthday wishes. It ended up being such a special day.

The only problem was that she thought her party was just around the corner all day. Explaining that "this day" is your birthday and that the "party" is another day is a big deal! :-)

Our Sunday Pictures

A little bit of a weird Sunday Picture day.

Hannah decided to go home with my parents and so she is in play clothes. (They went to worship when they got back to their house.)

Justus did not know what to do at picture time without Hannah's example and was really not havin' it! If you are lucky you may get to see pictures of him on the floor having a fit because we simple asked him to smile.

And since Justus wasn't awake when Hannah left there are none of them together.

Craziness!

Saturday's Sign

When you see a No U-Turn Sign you should think of...

Galatians 4:9
But now that you know God - of rather are known by God - how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?

Where Are You?

I let Hannah go into Justus' room this morning to "spend some time with him" before I could get in there to get him out of bed. I heard her talking thru the monitor. I knew she was in there. I go in and I look around and I don't see her anywhere.

For a moment I am confused and then I followed Justus' eyes.

Who knew I would find her sitting criss-cross-applesauce, hangging out, in Justus' dirty clothes hamper.

A Class On Job

Chris and I have not had the chance to be in an adult Bible class together in a while. In my humble opinion every couple needs to make sure they do that regularly. Chris and I try to have at least 1 class together a quarter but the last couple of quarters it just has not worked out.

Anyway, we are now in a Sunday morning class about Job. I have some mixed feelings on Job. I took a class on this book of the Bible in college and I have been to other classes about it.... Anyway, Chris and I are really excited about being in this class together.

This week we talked about what a good man Job was. I knew he was good, but I don't think I ever realized how good he was. When his troubles started he was probably around 70 years old, had 10 grown kids, and was the manager of lots of land.

Job 1:1, 8
God describes Job as blameless, upright, fearing God, and shunning evil.

Job 4:3-4
Job helped those who were in trouble.

Job 29:11-17
  • He gave good advice
  • He helped the poor
  • He helped the orphans
  • He helped widows
  • He clothed himself with righteousness
  • He was just
  • He helped the blind
  • He helped the lame
Job 30:25
Job was compassionate.

Job 31
  • He did not covet
  • He did not look at other women
  • He was not deceitful
  • He did not commit adultery
  • He treated his servants like humans, not possessions
  • He did not trust in or worship riches
  • He did not wish evil upon his enemies
  • He confessed his sins
  • He was a good steward of his land
  • He repaid his debts

Sometimes I feel like I couldn't establish that kind of reputation with even one of these characteristics, with 2 children and yet Job did it with much more on his plate than me.

Do you think you could ever be described with all of these good qualities? I don't think I could.

I think we all have LOTS to do! How about you?

Happy Birthday Hannah!

Today is our Baby Girl's 4th birthday.

4 years ago today was a beautiful day in our lives.

Chris and I thank God every day for giving Hannah to us and pray that we can raise her to be a Light in this world the way that God wants us to be.

We love you Hannah and we are so proud to be your parents. Check out the posts from her other birthdays and then enjoy some pictures of our sweet girl from this past year.

Silly Girl

I love taking Hannah's picture by the fence. I am not completely sure why. I then love to put the pictures on the computer and pretend I am a real photographer and make them look artsy by applying different effects to them.

Anyway, the story goes that I asked Hannah to please go to the fence to take some pictures and this is what she did (after she just leaned up against it and rolled her eyes for me).
Then I asked her to put her feel together. She did and I told her she looked so pretty and much more like a little lady and then I got these poses......Oh My!
What a Cutie, Crazy, Silly Girl!
